A cloud-based portal for worldwide partner access

Egenera is an international converged infrastructure technology company which designs, manufactures and sells blade servers as well as converged infrastructure management software, and offers consulting and training services related to its products and technologies.

What The Client Wanted

Egenera required a portal where partners worldwide could log in, maintain their deals and have access to the recent resources in one conventient place. The portal would also have a public-facing pages where existing and potential customers can access local partner information.

Built into the MODx framework the Egenera Partner Portal uses custom programming to enable the client to add and maintain partners into the system. Each partner:

• Appears on the public facing pages with their contact information;
• Is plotted on a Google map with neerby partners grouped until the user zooms in;
• Is given login information where they can access their dashboard;
• Has the ability to register a deal and keep the process updated;
• Has access to resources and downloads relevent to their expertise;

In the manager, different Egenera staff have access to a custom reporting tool which records information on resources downloaded as well as access to other modules specific to their role. The Egenera Contacts can access the deals for their partners and document managers can maintain the recources and the access permissions.

There are plans to expand the functionality the portal which will include:

• Salesforce CRM integration;
• Email notifications;
• More defined CMS manger roles
• Added levels of access and permissions complexity;
• Customer level access;
• Integrated support ticketing;
• Secure patches and software downloads;
• Knowledge-base forum for users, partners and Egenera staff to discuss products and services;
